Overview

• Genetic testing is when a person’s DNA is evaluated for specific markers known as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) linked to different physical and psychological traits. 
• The incredible advancements in techniques in the field of genomics have allowed for the cost of genetic testing to go from millions of dollars per person to less than $100 in only a few years. This has led to several companies offering inexpensive personal genetic testing.
• One company called 23andMe had an excellent interactive page on its website to teach about genetics and genetic testing. In this activity lab, you will go through the topic, learn a bit, and take short quizzes.

2. Download the worksheet.
3. You will see 16 squares with different images that look like this to the right
4. Click on each square one at a time read the short amount of information and then click on CheckPoint for a single question to test your knowledge. 
5. There is a question in the worksheet that can be answered for each topic. 
6. If you start on the first one, you can click “next” to go to the next topic. 
7. When you complete all 16 topics, you will receive an image of a certificate of completion that says “Eureka.” Take a screenshot of the certificate and paste it into the final cell of the table within your worksheet.
