Dr. Firestein is a neuroscientist who also teaches a course called Ignorance. This is a great short book about how we should be approaching science and the scientific method.

Dr. Polrack discusses his facinating work in neuroimaging, discussing what fMRIs can and cannot tell us about the human mind.
Psychoactive Drugs and Addiction

This is a fantastic book on the resissance of reserach on psychadelics. Michael Pollan is a great science writer.

In this book, Maia Szalavitz writes about her experiences but also addresses the science behind addiction and addresses good and bad treatment programs.

Carl Hart is a leading researcher on recreational drugs. He takes a rather controversial but interesting perspective on drugs use.
Judgment, Decision-Making, Behavioral Economics

Dan Ariely discusses how easily misbelief and misinformation spreads. This was written in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clinical, Psychological Disorders, and Case Studies

This is a great book on the history of psychological disorders, treatment and stigma.

Each chapter is an interesting case study in psychiatry and disorders, such as a surgeon with Tourette’s syndrome, and an artist who became color blind.

This is a must-read award-winning book for those interested in mental health. It discusses how culture influences how someone receives treatment for neurological disorders.
