Mission
The Online Psychology Lab and Hub is a free, open-source website for the collection of lab activities, student success videos, and recommendations for popular science books, podcasts, and websites. This website was created by Dr. Martin Shapiro, a professor of Psychology at California State University. The activity labs were designed to use interactive websites to create engaging, enjoyable, and educational experiences.
If you have a creative idea for an activity or have suggestions for good books, podcasts, or websites, please contact Dr. Shapiro (mashapiro@csufresno.edu). The goal is to create a repository of engaging activities and resources for students and instructors. Although Dr. Shapiro publishes textbooks with Flatworld Publishing, the website is not affiliated with Flatworld or connected to his textbooks.
About Martin S. Shapiro, Ph.D.

I am a professor of psychology at California State University, Fresno. For several years, I was the chair of a task force for high-impact practices and project-based learning at CSU Fresno. My primary research interests are in animal behavior, decision-making, behavioral economics, and psychophysiology. I have authored two textbooks available through Flatworld publishing: Biopsychology: Fundamentals and Contemporary Issues Version 2.0 (2024) and The Science of Psychology: Connections and Contemporary Issues Version 1.0 (2023). I have taught courses in introduction to psychology, biopsychology, motivation, learning, senses, and perception, and I also developed and taught courses on global challenges as part of AASCU’s Global Challenges Initiative. I have received a few teaching awards from CSU Fresno, including a University Provost award for using technology in teaching, the Psychology Department’s instructor-of-the-year honor, and the student-selected Faculty Lecture Series Award.

This is the second edition of my biopsychology textbook, published in 2024. It is currently being used at over 200 colleges. The online version is $36.95, and it contains many unique features including over 150 streaming videos, homework, and a read-aloud option. I created all the supplements, including the homework, test banks, instructor’s manual, and in-book quizzes.
